From Railway Station to Rainforest Retreat
Once the Beerburrum Railway Station, built in 1910, The Whistle Stop has been lovingly transformed into
one of Secrets on the Lake’s most unique and character-filled cabins. After its closure in 1993, George and
Aldy rescued the building and carefully relocated it to its new home among the lush rainforest gardens at
Secrets. With many of its original features restored and enhanced using reclaimed colonial materials, this
charming cabin blends history and heart in every detail.
A Charming Escape with History and Heart
Today, The Whistle Stop offers a private rainforest escape just 200 metres from the start of the Great Walk
trails. Guests can relax in the rustic undercover spa bath by the creek, enjoy a BBQ in the garden, or unwind
inside the fully self-contained cabin that sleeps up to four. Perfect for couples, friends, or families seeking a
more affordable stay, it offers a touch of nostalgia without sparing comfort. As this grand old dame turns 30
in her new life at Secrets, we invite you to come and experience her timeless charm and rich history for
yourself.
